Meet the Artist:
Heather Liverman
People were not meant to be sedentary; we were meant to move. As a metalsmith, I find deep satisfaction and joy in the physically demanding nature of my craft. Materiality heavily influences my process. Understanding how my medium will respond to my tools and techniques impacts a piece's overall aesthetic. I place every hammer strike with intention. The marks left behind by one process are eventually replaced by the next. This back-and-forth relationship is a reminder of metal's plasticity and motivates me to investigate its limits. I do this by exploring organic forms. Beyond their recognizable shape, I am compelled by the textures and physical depth present within them.
Materials: Brass, Copper, Gold, Lead-Free Pewter, Sterling Silver, and Steel
